Brakes are sort of the unsung hero of any good car. Besides showing off those wicked sweet drilled and slotted rotors and rattle-can-red calipers, not many people seem to pay much attention to them until there's a problem. Good pads and fluid are not exactly among the more "glamorous" upgrades you can do, unlike those 10 degrees of negative camber you have dialed in or that totally functional and not ridiculous wing you have towering over traffic.
